Sarah Elizabeth Flanagan – Sally

On 6th July 2022, Sally passed away suddenly but peacefully at her home in Accrington, aged 98 years. The dearly loved wife of the late Gerry, much loved mum of Helen and partner Sandy and the late Sally and late son in law Cec, loving gran of Ben, Dan, Emily and Sarah and great gran of Dylan and Otis.

Sally began her working life in a laboratory and then moved to munitions during the war. She married and moved to Accrington and became a loving mum to her daughters.  Sally was well known and liked in her several jobs –  the tobacconist, Woolworths, Sauls and Highams, where Sally worked before her retirement. Sally loved the music of the Halle Orchestra and had season tickets. She loved shopping and finding a bargain and could make a super meal with few ingredients. An avid reader of romance novels, she regularly visited the library and was also partial to watching a good snooker match on TV. She liked dressmaking and also attended classes in tailoring. Sally was a strong and determined character and would never give up. She was the very heart of her family and simply doted on her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
