Memorial Book
On Wednesday 19th November 2025, peacefully at his home, Roy, aged 86 years of Blackburn. The dearly loved and loving husband of Carole, much loved dad of Graham and Alison, dear father in law of Lesley and loving grandad Roy to the late Elise. Treasured by all who know him.
Roy spent his working life as a TV engineer, a career that suited his patient, careful and meticulous attention to detail. But it was behind a camera that Roy truly shone. More than a hobby, amateur photography was a passion for Roy and he became highly accomplished, winning many prizes for his imaginative and innovatively composed images. His vast photographic archive was meticulously logged and referenced, each photograph reflecting not only the world he saw, but the way he saw it, whether nature, portraits, landscapes or his beloved mountains. Mountains captivated him the most, from the rugged peaks of the Dolomites to the vast majesty of the Rockies, mountain walking brought him real happiness, and the Lake District remained his most cherished place.
Those who knew Roy speak of a kind and gentle man, selfless to his core. Compassionate, thoughtful and unfailingly considerate, he was someone who instinctively placed others before himself. He loved his home and life was very much about family for Roy. He and Carole celebrated 58 wonderful years of marriage. Roy was truly happy finding contentment in the everyday things, like his garden and his beautiful roses, which he tended with the same love and patience he gave to everything in his life.
Roy had a great sense of humour, and enjoyed laughing along to Dad’s Army, and he loved his fish and chips and Carole’s plate meat pie. Meals at the Calf’s Head at Worston always saw Roy thoroughly enjoy … and finish, their Worston Whale.
In the heart of his family, Roy was a quiet anchor, steadfast, gentle, loving and true. He will be remembered not for grand gestures, but for the goodness he carried every day. In the hearts of those who loved him, Roy remains simply the best, a loving husband, a devoted dad, a proud grandad, and a gentleman in every sense of the word.

RIP Roy, you were truly a lovely gentleman, we have kept you and Carole in our thoughts and remember past times that we enjoyed together. Our sincere condolences go to Carole and family. Unfortunately we can’t come to the funeral as George is having a scan on the morning of the funeral, we will be with you in spirit,
I remember Roy as a very good looking young man at the Youth Club who only had eyes for Carole. He was a lovely kind man and very talented. We enjoyed seeing all his wonderful photographs. Keith and I were thankful to see him in his later years and enjoy his company. We had some happy times and we shall miss him.
So sorry to hear of Roy’s passing. I have many happy memories of playing tennis in Roe Lee Park with Roy and a group of our friends. He was always so cheerful and considerate and I feel honoured to have been able to call him a friend.
We would like to add some thoughts about Roy. He was always very kind, thoughtful, unassuming and a gentleman. His love of the mountains, especially the Lake District was inspiring. His photographic skills were commendable and his talents were well recognised. far and wide.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Our love and sincere condolences go out to Carole, Alison, Graham and Lesley.
Roy was such a lovely, kind and true gentleman with a great sense of humour. Growing up with Alison and spending time at her house gave me the opportunity now and again to talk with Roy. He always had time to listen and was so gentle natured.
Sending my love to Alison, Carole, Graham and Lesley. Rest in peace lovely man.
