Roy Duerden

Devoted family man

Of your charity please pray for the repose of the soul of Roy who passed away peacefully at his home on 25th October 2018, aged 76 years of Copster Green.  Dearly beloved husband of Brenda, much loved dad of Debbie and Lisa, dear father-in-law of Chris and the late Tom, cherished gramps and great-gramps of Ella, Charlie, Tom, Ralphie, Isaac, Penelope and the late Kayan, and loved brother of the late Adrienne.

Roy worked as a Metallurgist having studied at John Dalton College and then worked in the labs at English Electrics whilst also attending night school.  He then became a Manager at Eternit in Blackburn for several years.  He loved his work, was hard-working and quite a serious man until he had had a drink.  He had a great sense of humour and was a man of high morals and standards.

In his spare time, he enjoyed playing a game of golf and getting out for a walk with his dogs, his favourite breed being Doberman. He loved cars too and his old Saab was his pride and joy.  He even ‘pimped Brenda’s ride’.  Roy enjoyed his holidays and had many happy times in France whilst the children were young. Family were important to Roy and he adored spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren at the caravan in Ripon.

Donations may be made in memory of Roy to the British Heart Foundation.
