Robert John French (Bob)

Suddenly at home on the 6th August 2022, Bob, aged 71 years.
Loving husband to Anne, cherished dad to Martin, Robert, Moira and Thomas, dearly loved grandfather and great grandfather, also a dear brother, uncle and friend to many.
Born and raised in Belfast Bob worked as a Docker before moving over to Clayton Le Moors in 1973 where he has spent the last 49 years. Bob was a well known member of the local community helped no doubt by his friendliness and in his later years before retirement working at Len’s Cabs as a taxi driver which he was a partner in.
Bob loved nothing more than spending time with his family who he adored. Time spent with grandchildren and great grandchildren was amongst the most cherished and precious times creating lots of beautiful memories. In his spare time Bob did enjoy a spot of fishing.
He will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him.
Flowers are welcome at the funeral home, and donations in memory of Bob are being gratefully received on behalf of a charity of your own choice.

Thinking of you all and sending thoughts and prayers to each and everyone of you.

To my uncle Robert, Anne, Moira, Martin, Thomas and families and all of the Frenchys (I can’t name you all I would be here all day!). I am very sorry that I can’t be there with you all today but I will be praying and thinking about you all. Robert was a fantastic uncle, to me he was always the one making jokes, pulling out his teeth to scare me and taking me up to see “Ned” as a child at Countess street to frighten the life out of me! Anything for a laugh! And boy was that laugh infectious. The head of the family, he will be sorely missed by us all but I hope you all take comfort in knowing that an energy that powerful will always live on. Loads of love to you all. Natasha Higgins

Robert was a lovely man who I had the pleasure of knowing. He was funny, witty and clearly a family man who was well loved by those who knew him. Rest peacefully Robert.
