Robert Gill – Bob
On 28th January 2023, peacefully in hospital, Bob aged 88 years of Church. The dearly beloved husband of June, much loved dad of Ian, Trevor and Claire, dear father in law of Pauline and Phil, loving grandad of Hazel, Stephen, Victoria, Christopher, Olivia, Stephanie and Mitchell and great grandad of Keeley, Lewis, McKenzie, Emilia and Zara.
Bob spent his working life as a skilled Milling Machine Operator having served his apprenticeship at Vickers Shipyard in Barrow in Furness. The family moved to Accrington in 1966 and Bob carried on his work at GEC. He then began working at Masterbar in Church and finally at Cobble, from where he retired. Bob worked the nightshift and was extremely hard working, always giving one hundred percent. He was a very outgoing and sociable character who loved to talk and he would chat to everyone and anyone. His outgoing nature made him popular. He enjoyed family holidays around the UK but was something of a home bird. At home, Bob enjoyed watching sport on TV and planting up his summer bedding plants- he always had a stunning, colourful array of plants throughout the summer months. He liked to listen to Radio Lancashire and was partial to a little ‘tot’ of Whisky. Bob will be remembered for his outgoing, friendly nature.
