Memorial Book

On 7th December 2025, peacefully in hospital, Richard, aged 78years of Rishton. The dearly loved and loving husband of Susan, also a cherished friend and doting ‘fur baby dad’ to Zeta.

A born engineer, Richard had an incredible gift, he could look at any piece of engineering and instinctively understand it. Precision and detail weren’t just skills for Richard, they were a part of who he was. He was respected for his intelligence, knowledge and dedication. He didn’t just work with engineering, he was a visionary and creator, Richard designed the world’s first air rifle capable of maximum power from a single stroke – the Air Logic Genesis. He worked at Webley & Scott, the well-known gun-making company, and later ran Target Technics in Accrington. His engineering work was exemplary but what truly defined Richard was his lovely nature. He was the most laid back, easy going, kindest man you could hope to meet. Home was his happy place and he doted on his cat, Zeta, the apple of her daddy’s eye. In his younger years, Richard had been a keen cyclist, always appreciating being outdoors and in nature.

Richard and Susan were a perfect match and shared fifty-four wonderful years of marriage. They enjoyed holidays, and Stoupa in Greece became their favourite destination. And even on holiday, Richard couldn’t help himself, if there was a drain to fix or a roof to repair, he’d be there, making someone’s day a little easier. His engineering talents came to good use at home too and Richard designed and built a conservatory with his own hands, and even designed and built a wind turbine in the garden. He loved gardening, and also enjoyed a good film as well as keeping up with the news. Some of his happiest moments were the simple ones, like going for a coffee with Susan at the Muffin Break in Blackburn. Together Richard and Susan were blessed with wonderful friends and a life spent making beautiful memories. We remember Richard with gratitude for all the laughter, the love, and the quiet brilliance he brought into the world. He leaves behind a lovely footprint in our world. Richard made life better for those around him, not only through the things he built, but through the man he was.

Deeply missed… and forever remembered.
