Memorial Book

Suddenly, on Wednesday 29th October 2025, Richard, aged 64 years, of Church, Accrington, passed away at the Royal Blackburn Hospital.

He was the adored son of Teressa and the late Bill, much loved brother of Patricia and the late Maggie, brother in law to Michael, a lovely uncle to Damien, Samantha & Charlotte, a Nephew to Nigel and the late Victor He was also a cherished great uncle to Kelsi, Ezra, Jennifer, Millie, Poppy, Layla, Toby, and Esme.

Born and raised in Church, Accrington, Richard developed an early love for motorcycles, a passion that brought him countless friendships and many unforgettable rides despite keeping his mum on edge each time he set off. His enthusiasm for the open road extended to a lifelong fascination with trucks and lorries. This became both his career and his hobby, he proudly collected model trucks and owned every Eddie Stobart model produced.

Richard spent more than twenty years working in the haulage industry as a long distance driver, a role he considered the best job in the world. He worked for Acalaide until taking early retirement, a decision that allowed him to focus on the things he loved most.

His love of motorcycles naturally led him to rock music, and he took every opportunity to see his favourite bands live. He often spoke with pride of seeing legends such as Motörhead, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, and many more calling himself a true “head banger” at heart.

Richard devoted himself wholeheartedly to his family. He became a loving and dedicated carer for both his mum and dad, tending to their needs with patience and compassion. After his dad passed away, Richard felt the loss deeply and missed him every single day.

During this time, he also formed an especially strong bond with Patch, his mum’s little “fur baby.” Richard and Patch spent countless peaceful hours walking along the canal, where he found comfort, joy, and tranquillity in the surrounding countryside.

Richard will be remembered for his big heart, his passions, his loyalty, and the love he shared so freely with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Donations in memory of Richard are being gratefully received on behalf of North West Air Ambulance, a donation box will also be provided on Richards funeral.
