Phillip Warren Marton

Suddenly on 29th September, 2022, Phillip, aged 72 years of Rishton, passed away peacefully in hospital. Phillip was the devoted and much loved husband of Tanya, adored dad of Michelle and Danielle, dear father-in-law of Roy and Roland, cherished grandad of Ben, Christian and Charlotte and a dear beloved brother of Margaret.

Following his school years Phillip began his working life in Alexander’s mens clothing store in Accrington before moving in the catering world where he spent the rest of his working life. He worked as a chef, catering manager and restaurateur. He was a well known and respected face within the industry and made many good friends along the way. Over the years Phillip was the manager at The Trafalgar Hotel, Salmesbury and Camelot Park Hall Hotel and was the UK buyer for Pontin’s holiday resorts. Phillip was also the owner of Harwood Dining Rooms in Great Harwood. In his spare time, Phillip loved to socialise with his family and friends enjoying meals out and sharing a drink or two or three – his home parties were legendary and always well looked forward to by all the invitees as long as everyone was on time. Holidays were much enjoyed and many wonderful and happy times have been shared at various destinations whilst enjoying the warm sunshine and some well deserved rest and relaxation. Phillip loved a bargain and could often be found shopping in the sales getting the best deals. Most of all Phillip was a family man who adored all his family and he was the most proud grandad.

I first met Phil 25 years ago when he worked for Pub Estates. He was always entertaining and a real character. More recently he inspired me with the way he coped with his illness. He was very brave and I never once heard him complain. A real gentleman who will be missed. Condolences to the family.

I will always remember Phillip as being very similar to my own Dad because he had a quick temper but with an absolute heart of gold, along with being very caring and funny too. I will never forget the day I was walking my dog soon after my Dad died and Phil pulled up on the curb in front of me, got out of his car and just gave me a massive hug. Very selfless man with the biggest heart ❤️. He will be greatly missed by us all. Lots of love to Tanya and family and thinking of you all at this very sad time xxx
