Peter Shackleton

Peter passed away peacefully on the 24th August 2022 in hospital aged 89 years. Dearly beloved husband of Joyce and much loved father of Ian, the late Neil and daughter in law Kath. Peter attended Accrington Grammar School and Liverpool college of art where he developed his unique artistic style which lead to a long and successful career with exhibitions in London, Salford and recently in Lymm Cheshire. He taught art throughout his career in Blackburn starting out at Bangor street then at Pleckgate where he spent most of his teaching life until retirement. Peter and his wife Joyce loved to travel the world and have many happy memories of the places they have visited and their life together.

Philip Wigglesworth

Peter taught me at Pleckgate. I loved his art, and thought he was a thoroughly decent bloke doing what in hindsight must have been a tough job. He treated us with respect; I’m worlds away from there, so I can’t make the funeral, but my thoughts will be there. I’m not sure I can ever forgive him for playing us Leo Sayer, but maybe he’d be pleased that I did pick up on some of his musical taste. Thanks, Peter, I owe you one.
