Peacefully in hospital and surrounded by his loving family, Peter Bailey passed away at the age of 66. A proud resident of Great Harwood, Peter was the cherished son of the late James and Vera Bailey, and a devoted brother to Dawn, Andrew, Amanda, and the late Sean. He was also a much loved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Throughout his life, Peter worked in a variety of roles that brought him into close contact with his community. He was well known as a doorman at pubs and clubs across Accrington and Manchester, where he built lasting friendships and earned the respect of many. In later years, he became a taxi driver across the North West, a job that suited his people skills, quick wit, and straight talking charm perfectly.
Peter had a one of a kind personality, honest, funny, and never afraid to speak his mind. His sarcastic humour and down to earth nature made him instantly likeable, and he had a gift for making friends wherever he went.
He also had a deep love for real life television from 999: What’s Your Emergency? to true crime documentaries, Peter was fascinated by the real stories of people and the world around him.
He especially cherished the time spent with his sisters, and their birthday outings, particularly their regular trips to the World Buffet in Manchester were a highlight, filled with laughter, love, and setting the world to rights.
Peter will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His unique character, big heart, and sense of humour have left an indelible mark on those lucky enough to have known him.
