Peter James Lawless

Suddenly in Preston Royal Hospital on the 30th June 2021, with his loving family by his side, Pete aged 45 of Great Harwood passed away from injuries sustained from a fall the previous day. The devoted son of Maureen and Brian and brother Darran. Pete went to school at St Hubert’s and St Augustine’s and then spent his working life as an electrician with his father, working throughout Lancashire and, at times abroad for the Ministry of Defence. Pete was a gentle giant with a big heart and always with a smile on his face. He loved his sport, especially football, following Blackburn Rovers all his life, and also loved cricket –  playing, coaching and supporting his local team Great Harwood Cricket Club. He loved the outdoors and travelled to destinations throughout the world especially enjoying skiing trips with his brother and many friends from throughout East Lancs. Pete  was also equally happy in some of his favourite places throughout the Ribble Valley with family and friends. He was a warm, humorous and highly regarded friend to so many people.

He will be sorely missed by all those that knew him and will never be forgotten.

Family flowers only please, donations in memory of Pete will be gratefully received on behalf of Great Harwood Cricket Club and INSPIRE East Lancashire. To donate, please click the blue button link at the bottom of this page.

I’ve known Pete since I was a kid, we always used to play together. I’d knock on your door numerous times asking if Pete was playing out. It’s so hard to think I’ll never see him again. I remember cutting his hair a few months ago and he helped me with my garden. I can’t imagine what you are all going through as I can’t even get him out of my head. My love and thoughts to you all and anything you need, I’m always here xxx

So sorry to hear of Pete’s sad passing. Working at the dog and otter in the late 90s I got to know Pete well and always made time to chat and whilst not close friends he’d always make a fuss and buy a pint when I saw him out and about. Harwood has lost a true gent and legend. Love to you all x

It’s been many years since we had a good catch up but I will never forget our time growing up, the crack at school and those first holidays abroad were some of the best times. You will be sorely missed pal, until we meet again, RIP Pete, miss you mate xx

We are very sad to hear the terrible news of Peters passing. Peter was our good friend during our teens, we have nothing but fond memories of times spent with him. We have been reminiscing about our school days which has brought a smile & laughter to us. We saw Peter the last time we visited the UK (we now live in Western Australia) we gave him a hug, had a drink & had a good chat with him. He will be fondly remembered & sadly missed. Regards to you all xx
