Paul David Vincent Clarke

Peacefully in hospital on 1st August 2023, Paul aged 82 years of Pendeford and formerly of Harwood Road, Rishton. Former Art Teacher at The Royal School Wolverhampton. Dear Son of the late Joseph and Ada, dear brother of the late Peter and Barbara, loved uncle to Joanne, Stephen and their families and a dear friend to all who knew him.

Born and raised on Harwood Road, Rishton, Paul was well known in the local community. He later went on to study Art at Maidstone and Liverpool universities before embarking on his career in teaching, working in Liverpool, Peterborough, Penn college, Wolverhampton and The Royal School Wolverhampton. He was always a keen and talented artist and wherever he went he would always have his pad, pencils and pallet nearby. He enjoyed film making and was a member of Wolverhampton Camera Club and he often became the family cine/video man whilst away on holiday and each Christmas when visiting his brother the family would gather to watch his latest masterpiece. He loved to travel and over the years Paul has visited many different countries around the world, he also enjoyed time at his caravan in Abergele where he would often be joined by family and friends. Paul had a keen eye for technology and a zest for learning and always ensured his equipment was up to date. Following a stroke in 2019, Paul came to live at Springhill Nursing Home and was a popular resident with the staff and the family would like to express their gratitude for the love and care given to Paul.

Paul will be sadly missed by all those who knew him.

Many happy evenings spent in Pauls company in the “old days” at the Royal and then as a neighbour during his retirement.

Unfortunately I won’t be able to attend Paul’s funeral but will be thinking of him. I’ve known Paul for years and certainly miss him. Thinking about the hours we talked putting the world to rights plus all the hints and tips he taught me on photography. Sleep well Paul.

Paul was a lovely man I’m glad I got to know and care for him.
