Memorial Book

Peacefully surrounded by his loving family on 3rd February 2025, Norman aged 78 years of Hyndburn Bridge, Clayton-le-Moors and formerly of Rishton. The devoted and much loved husband of Pat, loving and loved dad of Janet and Graham, cherished grandad of James and his wife Eleanor, Isobel and Fraser, dear brother of Sheila, Barrie and Eileen, a loved brother-in-law, uncle, relative and good friend to many. Norman was a well known and much loved character, cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. A lifelong, passionate, and staunch Blackburn Rovers supporter, he rarely missed a match attending both home and away games in his younger years and cheering from the comfort of his home in later years. His working life began as an apprentice engineer at English Electrics, where he also played for the company football team. He later joined All Speeds, remaining there until his retirement. Not one to sit still, Norman took on part-time work at Bowker BMW, where, as always, he was a highly respected team member. No matter where he worked, he built lasting friendships and was known for his loyalty, dedication, banter and good humour. Holidays were something Norman always looked forward to, especially to his favourite Greek resorts offering the perfect escape for some well-earned rest and relaxation in the warm sunshine. He was also a familiar face at the Hyndburn Bridge Pub, where he enjoyed a pint or two with his mates at the beloved ‘Sunday Club.’ Above all, Norman was a devoted family man. He treasured time spent with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored. To them, he was the best grandad in the world always filling their visits with fun, laughter, and adventure, his homemade games brought endless joy, ensuring there was never a dull moment when he was around. A true animal lover, Norman had a big heart for his pets, giving a loving home to many cats, dogs, and budgies over the years with each one as pampered as the next. A true legend who touched the lives of so many, Norman will be deeply missed but fondly remembered. May he rest in peace.
