Norman Blackledge

Suddenly at his home on 11th January 2022, Norman aged 83 years of Rishton and formerly of Great Harwood. The devoted husband of the late Margaret, loving father of Karl, Paul, Mark, Heath and Amanda, dear father-in-law of Judith, Jackie, Caroline, Geraldine and Steve, cherished grandfather of Jade, Kerry, Kirsty, Mia, Morgan, Lewis, Ella, Lee, Sarah, Natalie, Craig, Luke and Nathan and a great-grandfather and also a dear relative and friend to many.

Norman was born and raised in Burnley and following his school years he began his working life as a miner at Bank Hall Pit and he remained there until its closure. Norman then secured himself a window cleaning round which he worked on until his retirement, the round is still in the hands of Norman’s son Heath today.  He was the devoted husband of Margaret and together they shared a love for horses, keeping up to seven at a time over the years. Norman loved to set off on his travels with his wife Margaret onboard their ‘Gypsy Caravan’  pulled along by their beloved horses, each year they would visit Appleby fair and have made many good friends over the years, holidays were also enjoyed traveling abroad. Norman could often be seen out with his horse and trap and thought nothing of travelling over 20 miles per day and he continued this up to last year. Norman was the most proud family man and always looked forward to gathering the family for a celebration. He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all that knew him.
