Lifelong Accrington Stanley Supporter & Steward

Peacefully in hospital surrounded by his loving family on 13th August 2018, Norman aged 81 years of Huncoat and formerly of Clayton-le-Moors. The devoted and much loved husband of Jean, loving dad of Rean, Yvonne and Angela, dear step-father of Russell, Dawn-Marie and Deborah, a respected father-in-law, cherished grandad and great-grandad, dear brother of Arnold and Mervyn and a dear relative and good friend to many.

Life long Accrington Stanley supporter. Norman gave all his spare time to his local football club, he was the former carpark steward and later became one of the pitch stewards looking after the youth teams during their half time play. He was also a class 1 referee and was very proud of this achievement.
Norman started his working life down the pits and worked for many pits throughout the local area, he later worked as a heavy welder at Mac Fabs in Clayton and also worked at a sports club in Great Harwood earning himself the title of ‘Norman The Doorman’.

When he could be torn away from his beloved football Norman gave his time to his family who he was devoted to and loved to spend time with all of his family members. He enjoyed family holidays both in the Uk and overseas and once took a trip to New Zealand to visit family.

Norman always kept his garden beautiful and it bloomed in full colour throughout the seasons. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

Flowers are welcome and may be sent to the Chapel of Rest, donations are also being received in Norman’s memory on behalf of British Heart Foundation
