DENNIS BRUCE RAW

Dennis Raw aged 68 of Somerset close, Oswaldtwistle, passed away unexpectedly in Blackburn hospital on 19th June 2020. During Dennis’s 4-week hospital stay, his family were blessed to spend one last cherished evening with Dennis a few days before his passing, where Dennis enjoyed one last glass of wine in the comfort of his own home and surrounded by his adoring family, and pets.

A devoted and dearly loved partner of Theresa for 27 years, cherished and much-loved father of Catherine, dear brother to Peter and Malcolm and a treasured relative and friend to many. Dennis was a true gentleman, who will be deeply and widely missed by all who were lucky enough to have met him.

Beloved son of late Vera and Edmund Raw, Dennis was born in Brierfield before moving to Oswaldtwistle aged 9, where he decided to settle to stay close to his family and friends.

Dennis started his career at ROF Blackburn, then he later transferred to BAE, where his hard work and dedication payed off, as he worked his way up to his role as a cost and management accountant. Dennis spoke very fondly of his time at work and was much loved by his colleagues. Dennis proudly worked at BAE for 40 years before enjoying his early retirement at 59. Dennis treasured these extra years that he spent with Catherine and Theresa, who will cherish these memories always.

Dennis was happiest when spending time with his loved ones, a regular face in the local pubs, a very keen golfer and cricketer, proud lifelong supporter of Burnley football club and enjoyed his many incredible holidays with his partner and daughter.

An esteemed member of Ryhddings Methodist church, Dennis devoted his time as a lifelong member and managing the circuits accounts. Dennis was an extremely selfless and kind man, he was involved and donated to many charitable causes and volunteered as the account manager and trustee for the ARC refugee project in Blackburn.

Those who are left behind will sorely miss Dennis every day, but will strive to make him proud and keep his memory alive. Thank you for your wisdom, kindness and happiness that you filled our lives with.

In Dennis’s memory we are asking for donations to ‘The ARC Project Blackburn’, a charity that was very close to Dennis’s heart. Any donations are greatly appreciated and can be made by clicking the ‘Make A Donation’ button at the bottom of this page.

Please feel free to leave a message for Bert’s online memorial page.

It was a privilege to have known Dennis. He always had a kind word when I preached at Rhyddings He was passionate in his concerns for others especially those going through hard times and did his best to support them. He will be sadly missed.

Dennis, I am very saddened to hear about Dennis’s passing. He was a wonderful man with personality plus. Both Susan and myself worked with Dennis for many years at the ROF. He was one of the best who ever worked there. He would help anyone and his personality shone through every day. Being a Rovers fan we had lots of banter about his beloved Burnley. My best mate Eddie Turner used to meet up regularly with Dennis in Ossy for a few pints and banter galore. He truly was a man who can be summed up in one word, Class. He was everything that you would want as a colleague and a friend and I trust that you will find the peace that you deserve in the future. He was a Mega Man. Xxxx
