Mildred Winterbottom
On 1st January, 2023 peacefully in hospital, Mildred, aged 95 years of Mellor. The dearly beloved wife of the late Harold, much loved mum of Paul, Steven, Mark, Susan and Adam, much loved mother in law of Gary & Ibby, loving nan of Becky, Matthew, Nicola, Michelle, Michael, Amy, Ella and Chris and great nan of Oliver, Pippa, Poppy and Giacomo.
Mildred was born in Altham and began her working life at Chenille Products and then Blackburn Town Hall before becoming a busy housewife on the family farm with their 5 children and supporting Harold on his milk round. There was always cooking to be done and housework to be carried out and Mildred had the energy of ten men and was always on the go. She was a lovely mum and the children could share everything with her and there was always lots of love in the household. Mildred’s life was very much centred around her family and times shared were always precious. She was a real people person and enjoyed being in company and always enjoyed her shopping trips and drives out to the coast with her lovely friends. Being a nan and great nan was wonderful for Mildred and she loved spending time with them and keeping up to date with all that was happening in their lives. Mildred enjoyed watching the soaps on TV and also Question Time and she loved to watch Susan and Gary in their various theatrical productions. She also enjoyed her Thursday shopping with Susan. As her health declined, HomeCare (Mellor) carers looked after Mildred at home. Mildred was then taken in to the loving care of Haydock House where she settled beautifully and the staff were wonderful. Mildred was much loved and will be sadly missed.

The Wright Family
We send you our heartfelt condolences at the loss of your mum. It was always delightful to meet up with Mrs Winterbottom, as she was known to us, over the many years we have known her. We particularly remember with fondness her 90th birthday where we all gathered in the garden to celebrate. We remember the happiness and pride she showed in having her loving family around her. Take comfort in all the times you were able to spend with your very special Mum and Nan. Thinking of you all at this time xx.
