Mildred Joyce Waddington

On 1st October 2023, peacefully in hospital, Mildred, aged 88 years of Great Harwood. The dearly beloved wife of Jack for 69 years. Much loved and loving mum of Julie, Carol and John, also a much loved mother in law, grandma and great grandma.

Mildred was first and foremost a devoted family lady. She was a wonderful homemaker, nurturing and supporting her family with much love. She was honest and respectful and appreciated these values in others. In her working life, Mildred was a telephonist before becoming a full time mum. As the children were growing up, she worked the evening shift at the OXO Factory and then moved onto days. She made good friends there and was hard working. In retirement, she was able to indulge her great loved of shopping, particularly to M & S. She and Jack enjoyed day trips to various places, including Blackpool. In her early years, Mildred made many of the children’s clothes and was a most talented knitter, all generations of the family sporting her wonderful creations. She and Jack travelled the world by sea and air and had some fantastic experiences, seeing many amazing sights. Mildred will be remembered for her joy of sharing moments and making memories with her family and friends that truly filled her heart.
