Charles Michael Orme – Mike

On 1st August, 2023 peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, Mike, aged 74 years of Blackburn, formerly of Swadlincote, Derbyshire. The dearly beloved husband of Jenny, much loved and loving dad of Daniel and Jessica, dear father in law of Kelly, also a doting grandad and great grandad and very dear brother, brother in law and uncle.

Mike was an accountant for all his working life, working for several companies. He particularly enjoyed his 3 days a week working for Viva Show and Party Venue in Blackpool. Two of the dancers there – Natalie and Emma, knew they couldn’t dance for ever so asked Mike to teach them office accounts. Mike was so proud when Emma went on to gain her accountancy qualifications. Out of work, Mick’s main passion was golf and he had been a member at Wilpshire for many years. He longed to play the guitar but could never quite master it, much to his frustration. When younger he played cricket and football and always watched any sport that involved a ball. In Mick’s, world DIY stood for Destroy It Yourself, so son Daniel often had to come to the rescue. Mike was known and loved by all and was gentle, caring and always calm …. unless he was parking the car. He adored his family and treasured every day with them. Family holidays were wonderful and Mike and Jenny particularly enjoyed their favourite destination – Lanzarote. They also took a magical visit to New York in the snow and loved visiting Whitbarrow in the Lake district. Mike leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter in the heart of his family and will be missed very much by his family and many friends.

I didn’t know Mike personally but Harry could not have asked for a better grandad. He will be sorely missed.

I only knew Mike through golf. He was often busy with business and family but when he had the time he was a keen golfer and frequent participant in one of the Seniors’ teams. He will be sorely missed.

Mick was a devoted Husband, Dad and Grandad. Our kind and friendly neighbour for 33 years. He will be sorely missed by many of us. RIP Mick – Get Well in Heaven
