Meretta Sanderson

On 1st October 2022, peacefully in a private rest home, Meretta aged 91 years of Rishton. The dearly loved wife of the late Ken, much loved mum of the late Allan, loved mother in law of Lorraine, loving grandma of Ian and Carly and great grandma of Kaitlyn, Connor, Melody, Alexis and Charlie and dear sister in law of Hilda.

Meretta began her working life at Donshu Footwear in Rishton and then moved to Smith Brothers making sausage skins, working until her retirement and where her grandson Ian later joined her. Meretta loved sewing and knitting and also enjoyed watching the soaps, especially Coronation Street and Emmerdale. She knitted jumpers for the grandchildren and also handmade their dressing up costumes. Together, Meretta and Ken enjoyed drives out to the countryside. They would find a nice place to park up and enjoy the lovely views whilst having their sandwiches and a flask of tea. Meretta was a real homebird and she loved family times with the grandchildren, who eagerly looked forward to grandma’s excellent potato pie on a Saturday afternoon. There were lots of games and laughter. Meretta will be deeply missed by her loving family.
