Maureen Poland

On 12th February 2024, peacefully at home with loving family around her aged 77. A loving wife to recently departed John, and a very cherished mum to Liz, Cheree, Mick and Craig and partners Bev, Pete, Emma and Sylvina. A proud grandma and great grandma to Sam, Kylie, Steven, Chelsea, Jackson, Anthony, Jacob, Wilf, Ted and Valentino. Special Auntie to Stephen, Lisa & Angela and their families.

Maureen was retired but spent a lot of her working life consisting of various roles which included working for the NHS, Retail and was a fantastic cook at the local Roebuck and Walmsley in Rishton. Away from work, Maureen doted on her family and enjoyed a simple life watching her favourite soaps the Six Nations Rugby tournament, the occasional flutter on the horses and crocheting. She liked to go out for a cup of tea and piece of cake now and again. Maureen used to like her regular walks and chat to all her friends on route.

Maureen was a loving, genuine person, whose kindness, humility, and genuine nature reflected on everyone she met. Her glowing smile always lit up any room and was sincere and contagious.

Her memory will live on in the stories, laughter, and shared moments that defined her life. Let us remember her with gratitude for the love she gave, and may she rest in peace, surrounded by the love that she so freely gave throughout her remarkable journey.

Family flowers only please, there will be a retiring collection in Memory of Maureen for St Peter & St Paul’s Church, at the funeral service.

Please feel free to leave a message for Maureen’s online memorial book by completing the form below.
