Maureen Lord

On 21st November, 2023, peacefully at her home with her loving husband by her side, Maureen, aged 77 years of Darwen. The dearly beloved and loving wife of David and a cherished family member.

Maureen had various jobs before training as a hairdresser. She opened her own salon in the early 70’s  – Hair Fashion at 39 Darwen Street. It was a busy salon and Maureen was very popular. Her talents for beauty led her to working with Social Services in conjunction with Blackburn College, helping young ladies to improve their appearance. Maureen then worked with the elderly before she became the manager at a disabled day centre, from where she retired. In her younger years, Maureen was a talented dressmaker and enjoyed all crafts, able to turn her hand to anything. Maureen was a very smart lady and always dressed so beautifully. She and David were a true love story and shared a passion for travel. They visited the four corners of the earth and their much loved cruises gave them the opportunity to visit lots of destinations at a time. She and David came to love Benidorm. Maureen also took many holidays with her mum with whom she shared a special and deep bond. Home was Maureen’s happy place and she was very house proud. David did all the cooking and Maureen liked to relax with a glass of wine. Loved and remembered today and always.
