Maureen Doris Jones

Peacefully, on Monday 21st July 2025, Maureen, aged 89, passed away at Royal Blackburn Hospital.

Loving wife of the late Michael, and a devoted and loving mum to Kelvin, Richard, Christopher, and the late Sally. Maureen was a cherished Nan to Adam, Henry, and Tamara, and mother-in-law to Caroline and Robert, and dear friend to Ting. She was a much loved sister to the late John, Alan, and Peter, and a treasured auntie to many.

In her younger years, Maureen worked in retail and for the GPO, before training as a chef and becoming the Directors’ Chef at Deritend in Droitwich.

In 1984, the family moved to Blackburn, Lancashire. Not long after moving up north, Maureen started work at King George’s Hall, Blackburn, where great friendships were formed and lasting memories were created. In more recent years new friendships were formed at Lammack Ladies were Maureen would attend every other week on a Thursday, right up until last week.

Maureen’s true passion was her grandchildren, followed by travelling the world with Mike. They spent their retirement together enjoying many happy cruises and adventures to far flung destinations.
