Maud Elgey neé Hicks

Peacefully at her home with her family at her side on 24th October 2023, Maud aged 100 years of Clayton-le-Moors and formerly of Rochdale. The devoted wife of the late Philip, loving mother of Pamela, dear mother-in-law of Vincent, cherished grandma of Sebastian, Benedict and Chantal and great-grandma of Henry and Georgina.

Born and raised in Rochdale, Maud spent her early working life at the GPO working as a Telephonist, it was during this time that she met her beloved Philip and in 1945 the couple sealed their love for each other by getting married sharing a wonderful marriage that would span 62 years. In younger years the couple shared many wonderful holidays travelling around the UK. Maud loved her family and was the most doting grandma and great grandma and was always on hand to help out with childcare, she always kept in touch with her wider family with visits, telephone calls and letter writing. She was intelligent and always kept up to date with current affairs and sporting activity.

Maud will be greatly missed by all her family and friends and fondly remembered.
