Mark Patrick Cruise – Cruisey

On 14th January, 2022 peacefully following a brave battle with MND, Mark (Cruisey) aged 54 years, of Blackburn. The dearly loved and much loved husband of Laura, devoted dad of Josh, Jacob, Chloe and stepson Max, much loved son of Edina and the late Richard, loved brother of Christopher and Alex, also a dear brother in law, and uncle.

Born in Liverpool, Mark  joined Lancashire Constabulary in 1993 as a Constable and worked his way up to Detective Sergeant. His dedication, passion and care for his work saw Mark receive several Commendations. Out of work, Mark shared his passions between his family, football and horse racing. He was an avid Everton fan and though he attended some of the matches, he loved to watch them on TV with Josh. One of Mark’s claims to fame was watching Everton win the European Cup in Rotterdam. A regular Cheltenham Festival go-er, Mark adored all things horse racing. Funny, knowledgable and charming, Mark loved to socialise and was at his happiest surrounded by friends, basking in the limelight. He also loved family holidays to his mum’s house in Spain where he could be found on his sun longer, topping up his tan enjoying a Spanish beer. First and foremost, Mark was a devoted, loving and proud husband, dad and much loved family member, colleague and friend. He will be remembered for living his life with such passion, dedication and loyalty.

Donations in memory of Mark are being gratefully received on behalf of East Lancashire Hospice via the blue donate button at the bottom of this page.

I had the pleasure of working with Mark at Blackburn for a number of years. Not only was he a great police officer but also a lovely human being. I felt he always had the knack for making anyone around him feel valued and welcome. A lovely person who will be sorely missed by many.

Jonathan Lobb

Due to being poorly I am utterly devastated that I could not be there with you all today. Cruisey was one of the best men ever to walk the earth and I am privileged to have spent time with him both at work and socially. It was an honour to raise money to help adapt your home and I will cherish the memories of him. Tracey, Harry & James send their love. He will always have a special place in our hearts as all you will ????
