Marie Evans

Peacefully at Lowfield House on 7th December 2023, Marie aged 86 years formerly of Read and Barley. The devoted wife of the late Stuart, loved mother of Paul, Kieron, Justine, Richard and the late Michael, dear mother-in-law of Donna, Marta and Helen, cherished grandmother of Danielle, Leah, Matilda, Euan and Sofia and a dear sister of Ursula and Ian.

Former police officer in the Accrington district, Marie gave up her career to raise her family becoming a full-time housewife and mother. She loved cooking and could often be found in the kitchen creating her latest culinary delight and her winberry and cheese and onion pies held legendary status within the family. Marie loved the outdoors and animals, a passion she shared with her beloved husband Stuart and together they raised many animals on their small holding in Barley and each year there would always be a little lamb hand reared and kept snug and warm next to the kitchen AGA. Marie was private lady who kept a a small circle of friends and she was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren and their achievements.
