Obituary Notice

Margaret passed away peacefully in a private care home, on 13th June 2026, aged 80 years of Great Harwood. The dearly loved wife of the late Alan, much loved and loving mum of Michael and the late Shaun, also loving grandma of Emlyn.

Margaret was, above all else, a devoted family lady whose life revolved around those she loved. Together with Alan, she wholeheartedly supported their son Michael in his running competitions, travelling throughout the North West and further afield. Margaret’s legendary picnics became a highlight of the running circuit and made them very popular, forging great friendships along the way.

Margaret and Alan shared a love of sunshine and travel and enjoyed many happy holidays in Spain before purchasing their own villa in Calpe. When Michael moved to Alabama, they loved their long winter visits there. A talented crocheter, Margaret’s baby blankets remain treasured keepsakes within the family. She had a passion for gardening and flowers, and was an avid reader with particular interest in the history of British monarchy. She also had a passion for Wimbledon and watched the tournaments religiously.

In later life, Margaret and Alan took up dancing, enjoying their trips to Blackpool with friends and their dance group. Margaret loved people. She was kind hearted, generous and always aware if you had a problem. She was nurturing and gentle and also loved talk, in fact she could talk for England. She and her sister Marian were always the best of friends, when Marion moved to America there were happy holidays back and forth and they continued to enjoy their transatlantic word puzzles.

Margaret also enjoyed being pampered, taking great pleasure in having her hair and nails done. She lived a long, happy and fulfilling life, filled with love, friendship and family. Remembered with love today and always. Reunited with her beloved Alan.

Donations ae being gratefully received on behalf of Alzheimer’s Society.

Remembering my dear friend Margaret and the happy times at Blackburn dancing and the fun time on holiday, when we laughed from morning to night. Goodnight and God bless dear xx

Margaret had me in stitches on our days out, so much so, I had to stop the car on several occasions because I was doubled up.

At last you can be with Alan, your mum and Marion who I know you have missed.
Xx

Margaret Green

She had the most infectious laugh. Along with it, an ability to make people cry with laughter with her storytelling.
Her loving nature was given to anyone that took the time to say ‘hello’ to her.

I’ve met some strong women in my life but there are fewer stronger women than Margaret. She faced everything with a smile and I’ll never forget that.

Say ‘hello’ to Alan for us, he’ll have missed you.
