Memorial Book
On 13th October 2025, peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, Margaret, aged 91years of great Harwood. The dearly loved wife of the late Kenneth, devoted and fabulous mum of Janet and Maureen, loving mother in law of Peter and Graham, a cherished grandma and great grandma, loved sister of Harry and late sister in law of the late Sheila and also a much loved auntie.
Margaret was born in Halifax, and it was there, in a carpet mill, that she met the love of her life, Kenneth. After their marriage, work brought them to Great Harwood. It was here that Margaret put her roots down and created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love, raising their two daughters, Janet and Maureen, with devotion and care. From the very beginning, Margaret’s heart was open to everyone, especially children. Her deep compassion led her to foster many children over the years, offering them the comfort and stability of a loving family. This selfless dedication naturally led her to become a Social Worker Assistant in Darwen, where she devoted herself tirelessly to helping underprivileged children, touching countless lives with her love, patience, and her golden heart.
Margaret had a gift for making people feel special. She had the most beautiful smile that lit up her face. She saw the good in everyone, always choosing to lift others with kind words. A simple trip to Tesco was like an ‘Audience with Margaret Cape’ because everyone loved to chat with her.
Her home was her pride, and her joy, and Margaret loved keeping everything spotless, especially her beds which had to always bepristine, She was constantly pottering and tidying. Margaret found joy in the simple pleasures: reading, doing her crosswords, and she loved to watch Heartbeat on TV and laugh along to Only Fools and Horses and Last of the Summer Wine.
She had a heart that seemed endless in its capacity to give. Margaret enriched the lives of everyone she met with her kindness, her compassion, and the quiet ways she made the world a better place.

Always asking about our family each time we saw her.and updating us on Janet and Maureen and their families.
It was such a privilege to be asked to check in on Margaret whilst her family was away. Having a cup of coffee and talking about her younger days. right up to the present. She described everything with great care and love.
She was such an amazing and wonderful lady and had a heart of gold.
We miss her so much….. pottering round in her garden, sweeping and cleaning her front, even making her bed and waving to me, as I made ours.
We have so many fond memories.

Lots of love to you all from Dawn, Trevor and family. xxxx
To my dearest, darling mother, my world is going to be a very different place without you in it. You were my guiding light and my inspiration to be the very best wife and mother I could be. You leave a great legacy. My four boys, ten grandchildren and daughters in law are all the better for having you in their lives.. I don’t think in all my sixty six years that we have ever fallen out or had a cross word – I love that. You always had a welcoming smile and were never anything else but happy. I hope you were as proud of me as I was as proud to have you as my mum. In my heart forever, your loving daughter, Janet 💕
My sincere condolences to you Janet and all the family. Your Mum was a lovely lady and we always chatted in the hairdressers or in Tesco . May she rest in peace . XX
