Louise Gent – Looby
Eileen Louise ‘Looby’ Gent, aged 62 years, passed away suddenly on 15th September, 2021 whilst on holiday in Greece ,with her loving husband Barry by her side. She was an amazing wife, cherished mum of Joshua and Freya, also a much-loved sister, sister-in-law, daughter in law and auntie, as well as being an amazing friend to many, many people. She was unscrupulously generous, fun loving and had a sharp sense of wit and humour.
Looby qualified as a mental health nurse in 1990 and worked for the NHS until her well-deserved retirement in 2014. She dedicated her life to helping those in need and was unreservedly kind and helpful to everyone she met. As a massive animal and cat lover as well, she would devote masses of time and money to looking after any strays who crossed her path or any creatures she found in her cottage gardens in need of a good feed and some attention. Travelling was a huge part of Looby’s life and she was infatuated with Greece and the Mediterranean as well as being a lover of European food and culture. She did interrailing twice across Europe with Barry in the 1980s and had countless holidays and city breaks abroad. She also adored music of artists and bands, with Bruce Springsteen, Leonard Cohen and Jackson Browne being some of her all-time favourites. Looby will be terribly missed and always in the hearts and thoughts of her loving family and friends.
