‘Home at Last’

Born and raised in Blackburn, Les spent his entire life in the town he called home. He was proud to serve his country with the Royal Navy during the Second World War as a minesweeper. He often reminisced about his time in service and fondly remembered his fellow comrades. In later years, he enjoyed many wonderful holidays revisiting the places where he had served, including Malta and Singapore. Following his service, Les spent his working life as an HGV driver. He loved the freedom of the open road and was at his happiest when behind the wheel. A man content in his own company, Les never sought attention or fuss. He enjoyed a pint or two with his mates at Longshaw WMC in Blackburn, and at home he took great pride in his garden, carefully tending to his plants and ensuring it bloomed with colour throughout the seasons. During the summer months, the scent of his perfectly grown roses filled the air. Les also enjoyed quiet time at home, relaxing with his football coupons and Spot the Ball games.

Family flowers only, please. Donations are being gratefully received in Les’ memory on behalf of St Alban’s RC Church.
