Kenneth Eddleston – Ken

On 21st April 2023, peacefully at his home, Ken, aged 88 years of Great Harwood. The devoted and beloved husband of Pat, much loved and loving dad of Paul and Louise and loving grandad of Phoebe and Matthew.

Ken began his working life at Shaw Motors in Great Harwood where he completed his apprenticeship as a car mechanic. He served his 2 years National Service with The Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and returned to Shaw’s. Ken then joined Leavers Motors, Blackburn where he became the foreman. Living at New Moss Farm in Oswaldtwistle, Ken  was able to convert one of the shippons into a garage and set up as a self employed mechanic. He later bought the filling station next door, knocked it down and built a great unit in the site and New Moss Garage Car Repairs was firmly on the map. Ken loved his work and had earned himself an excellent reputation. He had always loved engines and in his younger years loved motorbikes and trial biking, winning the Army Nationals during his time of service. In retirement, he could indulge his love of woodworking. Gifted with an engineers eye for precision and design, Ken made beautiful items of furniture for his family and he could turn his hand to anything He enjoyed watching football and followed Blackburn Rovers and had also been a seasoned fisherman for many years. First and foremost Ken was a devoted family man and he and Pat had been a perfect match. Everything Ken did was for the comfort and love of his family. He will be remembered for being a loving and devoted family man.
