Julie Anne Preston

On 13th march, 2024 Julie, aged 52 years, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family and ‘Fortified By The Rites Of Holy Mother Church’, of Great Harwood. The dearly loved and loving wife of Sean, cherished and devoted mum of Caitlin, Lauren and Ciaran, much loved sister of Garry and sister in law Angie. Also a much loved niece, cousin and daughter/sister-in-law . Requiescat in Pace.

Julie was brought up in Rishton by her parents, Alan and Carole Walmsley, and studied Psychology at Huddersfield University before completing her doctorate at Lancaster University. She then worked as a clinical psychologist for the local health service. Julie was passionate about her work and loved working with her colleagues, making many friends. She was a dedicated runner and member of Running4CF and took part in park runs, 10 km runs, half marathons and completed the London marathon twice. Her other hobbies included cooking and gardening, both of which she excelled in (her ice cream cake at Christmas was a must). Julie enjoyed many memorable family holidays to Turkey, Florida, France, Donegal and Kerry. At home, Julie was the most devoted and beautiful wife and mum, caring for her family and her precious cat Magic and Suki the Pug. She provided her children with a shoulder to lean on and good advice to guide them through life. She was also a sensitive and tactful friend who supported others through difficult times.

Donations are being gratefully received in Julie’s memory on behalf of East Lancashire Hospice. To make a donation please click the ‘Make A Donation’ button at the bottom of this page.

Heartbroken at the loss of our beautiful (inside and out), kind, gentle, humorous, multi talented, beloved daughter-in- law. Julie, we all loved you so much, will miss you so much, but will cherish precious memories, and will love you for ever. You were just `simply the best`. xxxx

Julie, we will miss you so much. We still can`t believe how cruelly & quickly you have been snatched away from us, leaving such a huge void in our family. We feel honoured and blessed to have been close to you and we will cherish many, many fond and loving memories of you, which at the moment bring tears to our eyes but which will, in time, bring a gentle smile to our faces. Heaven truly has gained an angel. We would especially like to thank the nurses for their exceptional care of Julie. xx
