John Bates

Peacefully at East Lancashire Hospice on 27th September, 2022 with his wife and sister by his side. John aged 63 years of Baxenden. The devoted and much loved husband of Judith, loved brother of Karen and his late twin sister Janet and her children, uncle of Ryan, Gemma and Charlotte and step-dad to Nicola, Lloyd and Lance, grandad of Finley, Marnie, Joshua, Ffion and Jordan.

John was a lover of all animals throughout his life and in his younger years spent many happy hours working on farms before he began his career in civil engineering. He was a popular and well known face in the Baxenden community and a regular face in the local pubs including the Dog & Partridge, The Alma and The Bay Horse. His love for animals was a passion shared with his wife Judith and together they lovingly ran their small holding in Baxenden where, over the years they have kept cows, sheep, horses and poultry and the family home was always shared with their beloved companions, dogs and cats.
