John Barry Shaw

On 3rd January 2019, passed away peacefully in hospital following a brave fight against cancer. John aged 64 years of Clayton-le-Moors was the much loved dad of Paul, loving partner of Sheila, dear nephew of Anne & Brian and also a loved cousin.

John spent his working life as a computer engineer working for ICL/FUJITSU and Agilysis. He was a true IT expert who always kept himself up-to-date, loved his job and was a go-to-person who always knew the answers.  In his university days at Exeter College, Oxford, John was a keen rower.  He moved to Clayton-le-Moors from Preston in 2006 and made many friends there.  He retired in 2015 and in his spare time he enjoyed completing crosswords and quizzes and he was a great fan of Radio 4’s “Im Sorry, I Haven’t a Clue”. In his retirement, he joined Hyndburn Stepping Out Walkers Group, and became the group secretary.

John was also involved in participating in and later organising rowing events for the North West and Yorkshire Explore Rowing League.

He will be sadly missed.
