John Barnes ‘JB’

Peacefully in hospital on 17th August 2021, John aged 78 years of Great Harwood. The devoted and loved husband of Margaret, loving dad of Helen, dear father-in-law of Phillip, cherished grandad of Ellamae and Robyn, dear brother of Sylvia, Steven and the late Dorothy and step father to Jacqueline and her family.

Born and bred farmer, John was the eldest of four children raised on the family farm in Haslingden. Following in his fathers footsteps John moved to his own farm in Great Harwood where he became a well known, respected familiar face in the farming world. He was also known throughout the Hyndburn area for his work with his milk round delivering fresh milk daily to many families for many years. In his spare time John loved to watch cricket and in his younger years he always looked forward to playing a match and was a member of Haslingden Cricket Club, John also enjoyed football and shared much banter with his family.  John enjoyed his annual pilgrimage to the Isle of Man to attend the ’TT’ with his mates, which were always fun times with much laughter shared and John had the most amazing sense of humour. Most of all John was a devoted family man and the most proud dad and grandad who always looked forward to spending time with his nearest and dearest and will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
