Joan Wood

Peacefully in hospital surrounded by family, on 8th March 2024, Joan aged 83 of Accrington. She was the ex wife of the late Roland whom she had a fantastic relationship with. Devoted mother to Gail, Julie and the late Terence. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was very close to her son-in-law Mick, niece Amanda and auntie Carol, whom she held dear to her heart.

Joan’s journey began when she met Roland while working at the brickyard. Together, they built a beautiful life and shared countless memories. Later in life, she found companionship with Ken, with whom she resided in Cornwall for 11 joyful years.

Throughout her life, Joan was known for her unwavering devotion to her family. She was a dedicated caregiver, not only to her own children but also to her grandchildren, ensuring they were always loved and cared for. Her family meant everything to her, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

In her leisure time, Joan found joy in simple pleasures. She had a knack for puzzles, enjoyed watching television, and even indulged in playing on the PlayStation. Social gatherings at Oddfellows and the Wellington were among her favorite pastimes, where she could connect with friends and loved ones.

Joan had a few signature items that were always by her side – her trusty handbag, a pack of biscuits, and her cherished lipstick. She wouldn’t leave home without them, and she never missed an opportunity to apply her lipstick, always maintaining her grace and elegance.

With her wicked sense of humor and her impressive DIY skills, Joan brought laughter and joy to those around her. Even in her later years, she was known to climb ladders to strip wallpaper, showcasing her determination and independence.

Joan Wood will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will live on in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing she was cherished and loved beyond measure.
