Joan Wareing née Molloy

Peacefully surrounded by her beloved family at home on 28th March 2023 Joan aged 76 years of Clayton-le-Moors and formerly of Haslingden. The devoted and adored wife of Clifford, loving and much loved mum of Mark and Nikki, dear mother-in-law of Carmen and Gary, cherished nanna of Ashleigh, Rhianne and Hebe and a dear sister of Denis, Marie and David, sister-in-law of Barbara and Mick and a loved auntie.

Joan was born in Liverpool before making the move to Haslingden with her family. Following her school years Joan began her working life as a machinist and over the years she worked for many companies. Her last job was at Medex where she was a well respected member of the workforce and made many good friends, including her best friends Sharon and Margaret. Joan loved to go out for coffee with her sister Marie and could often be found in the Lancashire Tea Rooms enjoying a cuppa and a natter. Holidays were always looked forward to with her beloved Clifford and they would set off together for an adventure in their touring caravan visiting places all over the UK. She was an avid dog lover and over the years Joan gave a loving home to many four legged companions and she leaves behind her much loved dogs Peggy and Joe. Family was at the centre of Joan’s world and she loved nothing more than spending quality time with her loved ones and the family home always had an open door policy and whenever you visited you would always be treated to some of her wonderful tasty homemade treats and her spud pie held legendary status within the family. She was the most doting nanna and best friend to her grandchildren and she was always on hand to give the best advice whenever it was needed and she had a policy ‘What goes on at nanna’s stays at nanna’s’.

Joan will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Please feel free to wear bright colours at the service to celebrate Joan’s life.

The family would like to thank the lovely ladies from Routes Healthcare for the kindness and love they showed to Joan and Cliff during the last few weeks.

Rosie and Brian Lees

I was and still am Marie’s best friend, Joans sister, as a child in the sixties I was in awe of Joan in her stiletto heels and dresses of that era. She was so beautiful. I would often be found sitting on the doorstep of their house waiting for marie to come out to play. Joan always greeted me in a nice way as she came home from work however, I wonder if sometimes she thought “oh not that kid again “, I was usually given a lettuce butty while I waited. Many years later I knew Joan as a wonderful wife, mother and nana.I also joined Joan and Marie for a brew and a natter and many times, a good old laugh in the Lancashire Tearooms. As adults we were friends and she was always happy to see me just as she was when I sat on her doorstep with my lettuce butty haha. Joan lived for her family and loved them all dearly. Joan still beautiful, still my sixties idol. Your loved ones will love and miss you always. You were the best a person could be Joan and I will always remember you with love and affection. Rest in peace dear friend. Love Rosie. Xxx
