Joan Shaw Dean

Peacefully with her daughter at her side on 3rd March 2024, Joan aged 93 years and of Blackburn. The devoted wife of the late Dixie, loving and loved mum of Gill, mother-in-law of Steve, cherished grandma of Sarah and her husband Ken, Simon and his wife Becky, Allison and Joanna and her husband Dave, great-grandma of Max, Elijah, Evelyn, Harriet and Ezra, dear sister of the late Marian and also a respected relative and friend to many.

Joan spent her working life as a solicitor’s cashier working for Charles Yates, Wightman & Co and later for Rushton, Graham, Ibbotson and Clay’s where she was a well-respected member of the working team and with her super organisational skills, Joan had the office running like clockwork. She loved to travel and over the years enjoyed many wonderful holidays with her husband Dixie, relaxing in the warm sunshine of Lanzarote, Spain and Portugal. Joan was the most doting family lady and loved nothing more than gathering the family together for a celebration and each Sunday following Church at St Gabriel’s she would spend the day with all the family at Gill’s home enjoying breakfast followed by a delicious home cooked Sunday roast.
