Joan Pilkington

Peacefully, with her devoted husband by her side, on 11th September 2025, Joan, aged 75 years, of Accrington. The much loved wife of Andy, cherished and loving mum of Heather, dear mother-in-law of Glen, treasured nana of Bela and Maxwell, and a beloved sister of Kath. Joan was also a special auntie to Janet, and a respected relative and friend to many.

A familiar face in the local community, Joan worked in a variety of roles over the years, including on the counter at Whalley Road Post Office and at Bodycare. She loved the steady flow of customers, always greeting them with her beautiful smile and a willingness to help anyone at any time. Wherever she worked, she formed lasting friendships with her colleagues and especially cherished the bond with her dear friends from Bodycare, fondly known as the “Bodycare Babes.”

Joan was a lifelong animal lover, giving many dogs a warm and caring home. She delighted in her daily walks and treasured the wonders of nature, from the birds and squirrels in her garden to the nesting swans on the canal. Each spring, she lovingly followed the progress of the tiny cygnets as they grew into elegant swans. Travel also brought Joan great joy. Over the years she enjoyed wonderful adventures across the globe, including memorable trips to the USA and Canada. Yet she was just as happy holidaying closer to home, especially in Wales, where caravan breaks created many precious memories with her family.

Above all, Joan was a devoted family woman. Nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with her loved ones, and she was a truly doting nana to her two adored grandchildren.

Flowers are welcome and may be delivered to the funeral home. Desired dress style is traditional black/formal attire with a splash of yellow or gold, to reflect Joan love of colour.
