On 1st November, 2022 peacefully in hospital, Joan aged 86 years of Darwen. The dearly beloved wife of the late Alan, much loved and cherished mum of Sandra, Ian and Karen, also an adored grandma, great grandma, sister and auntie.

Joan was born in Morecambe & lived the War years with her Nana & Grandad in Fleetwood, so she always felt at home by the seaside. Following her school years, she moved to Blackburn where she met Alan whilst taking dance classes at Parkgates, she also enjoyed working at Marks & Spencers until she became a mother and then later in life she worked at Queen’s Park Hospital as a domestic. Joan enjoyed her work and made many friends along the way. She adored Christmas and made it a special time for her family. Joan’s life was centred around her family and nothing was too much trouble. She always saw the positives and found the laughter in each situation, always able to make things better.

She loved eating fish & chips, as well as liquorice allsorts and the odd crisp butty. She enjoyed all music and also a good action film – like James Bond, Indiana Jones as well as War films and often reminisced of the first time she saw The Beatles on TV. Popular and well liked, Joan was a lovely friend to have. She had a witty sense of humour and could weave a good story.In her later years, Joan was blessed to receive the exceptional care, attention and love at Derwent Hall – a haven of wonderfulness for everyone of a certain age.

Joan leaves the most wonderful legacy of love, laughter and care in the heart of her family.
