Jean Walker

On 20th November 2023 peacefully at her home, Jean, aged 87 years of Clayton-le-Moors. The dearly beloved wife of the late James, much loved mum of Liz and James, dear mother in law of Helene, loving grandma of Lisa, Katie and Thomas, also a beloved sister of Eileen, Helen and the late Margaret, and a loved sister in law and auntie.

Born in Belfast, Jean’s family moved to Southport where Jean spent her working life as a chef.  Following retirement Jean and her family moved to Accrington where Jean quickly made friends and became a longstanding member of Clayton Baptist Church. Jean also took watercolour painting classes at the church. She loved helping in daughter Liz’s craft shop in Clitheroe. Jean loved chatting with the customers and would share her wisdom. It helped to keep her mind young. Always a great cook, Jean made the best stews in the world. Always glamorous, Jean enjoyed dressing up for meals out and afternoon teas. Home was her happy place and Jean was very house proud. Also a keen gardener, she could turn her hand to any DIY job needed. A great crafter too, Jean tried her hand at numerous crafts throughout the years. She loved her dogs, reading a good romance novel and watching her favourite programs on TV – Little House On The Prairie, The Waltons and The Golden Girls. Jean couldn’t resist a good chocolate. She will be dearly missed by her loving family.
