Peacefully surrounded by her loving family on 9th July 2025, Janis aged 66 years of Rishton. The devoted and much loved wife of Graham, adored and loving mum of Vicky, dear mother-in-law of Craig, cherished granny of Niamh, Jack, Jen and James, loved cousin of Joanne and her daughter Holly and a dear relative and friend to many.
Born and raised in Rishton, Janis was a well known face within the community and loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She began her working life in manufacturing before moving in to sales administration, working for many years at Promethean where she was a highly respected member of her working team. Janis was generous with her time and was always on hand to help anyone. She gave much of her time volunteering at many local community groups including at her local Library, Knit & natter and St Peter and St Paul’s Community Cafe as well as many more. She loved life and had more hobbies than most from knitting to live music, Janis had an artistic flare and was the most talented artist and loved all crafts. A keen historian she spent many hours over the years completing her family tree, tracing back ancestors from generations gone by. Travel was another great passion for Janis and together with her beloved husband Graham they have travelled the length and breadth of the UK with Edinburgh and Orkney holding a special place in her heart. Janis was a true people magnet and people were naturally drawn to her, she could chat about anything to anyone and once you had made a friend with Janis, you had made a friend for life.
Family flowers only please, donations are being gratefully received in Janis’ memory on behalf of The Chemotherapy Unit at The Royal Blackburn Hospital, (Bluebell Unit). Donations can be made via the ‘Make A Donation’ button on this page or please make cheques payable to ELHT & ME and send to the funeral home. There will also be a donation box available at the funeral service.
Janis was one of a kind and I will always remember happy days spent working with her at Promethean, her quick wit and one liners were legendary!

Grew up next door to Janis, happy memories of playing together getting up to mischief and always made sure we watched top of the pops in here grandmas house and loved playing T-Rex songs in her bedroom while we danced around the room laughing out loud till we got told off. My amazing god mum we grew apart when we moved away but growing up aunty Jan was a huge part of our lives big n bubbly n loud she will be greatly missed x

Happy memories of our teenage years, Janis with her waist length hair headbanging to Black Sabbath’s Paranoid around the school gym after we had a sneaky fag. Wednesday afternoon won’t ever be the same my good friend you will sadly be missed.
Can’t remember not ever knowing Janis. She was such a beautiful soul and brought a ray of light wherever she went. Funny, strong and such a nice person through and through. She will never be forgotten especially in Rishton. Thank you for the privilege of knowing you xxxx
Janis you were in my life even before I knew you had been in my life. I met Kelly at 6th form and quickly learnt that I grew up across the road from you and your lovely family. You are a wonderful person and one I will always think of with a huge smile and warmness in my heart. You will be in our heart forever. It’s sad to know we know live in a world where you’re not here with us anymore, with your dry wit and infectious laugh you brought smiles to a lot of faces. You will be well and truly missed.
Janis… knew here as a neighbour , her hubby a fellow fisherman of my hubby and my ‘egg lady’ .
Always such a happy , bubbly person with generosity so big and wide……will be very much missed for all she did at St Peter and St Pauls church …..delicious potatoe pie 🌝

I haven’t seen Janis for a while so I was shocked and sad to read this. I remember Janis when we were teenagers in the Albion, Janis with her long velvet coat.
