Janet Lavinia Cottam

On 15th January, 2022 peacefully in a private care home, Janet aged 70 years of Accrington. The much loved and loving wife of Peter, devoted mum of Adam, Scott and Sally. Also a dear mother in law of Viola and Emma, loved daughter of Mildred and the late Albert and a loved sister, sister in law, auntie and dear friend to many.

Janet spent her working life in nursing and spent several years at the Esme Unit at Accrington Victoria Hospital. Janet loved looking after others and always put them first. Janet was full of compassion and selflessness. She was also an amazing homemaker and made the tastiest stews and also loved knitting and making clothes. She was very creative and gifted with her hands. She thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and each year loved their walking holiday in the Lake District. The Rock’n’Roll era was her absolute favourite – the music touched her soul and she was a super jiver. Janet also enjoyed reading a good crime or romance novel. Her home and family were the centre of her world and every moment spent with them was kept firmly in her heart.

Donations in memory of Janet are being gratefully received on behalf of Action for Dementia via the blue donate button at the bottom of this page
