On Wednesday 23rd October 2024 Peacefully in East Lancashire Hospice, James aged 72 years of Clayton Le Moors.  Much loved dad of Andrew and Dwane, loving grandad of Rachel, dear great grandad of Joe and Izabela and dear brother Keith, Hazel, Robert, Joyce and Michael. Born in Accrington, James attended St Christophers school in Church.  Upon leaving school James worked at E. Slinger & Sons slaughterhouse where he worked for a number of years.  When James left Slingers he worked on the market and later joined Tesco as master butcher.  After leaving Tesco James formed his own loft insulation company, Accrington Loft Insulation, and later formed a plastering business, J. Holt & Sons.   James also carried out plastering work with his brother Keith and Bill Neill for many years.  He also worked for a time at Holland’s Pies, following this he worked with his youngest brother Michael (Mick) carrying out building work and pointing, he was close to Mick and he was very dear to him.  In his later life he worked at Allspeeds Engineering until his retirement. During his retirement James liked to help out his son Dwane with his plastering business. James was an avid fisherman, and this was his ultimate passion in life and he spent many happy hours next to the waters edge.  James was a match fisherman and was joined in these matches by son Andrew who shared his passion for this hobby and learned a lot from his dad about fishing.  James liked to fish at Hyndburn angling club in Accrington and he and Andrew spent many years together fishing at Billericay angling club in Essex, winning many trophies.  Another passion in his life was football and he was a staunch Liverpool supporter.  James liked his food especially dining out, he also liked watching horse racing and watching Russian films with subtitles. James loved to travel and visited Turkey, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and many other places. James was loved by all who knew him, he will be sadly missed but fondly remembered.
