Ian Cavannagh

Ian passed away surrounded by his family in Royal Blackburn Hospital on 12^th of October, 2022 aged 80 years. Ian lived in Wiswell, near Whalley. He was a loving husband to Margaret and the very best father to Michael and Pamela, a doting ‘Papa’ to grandchildren Patrick, Eugene, Cara and Rae and brilliant father-in-law to Larana and Simon.

Ian was born in Church Kirk, Accrington where he spent a happy childhood with parents John and Edith and his siblings, Jack and Irene. After attending Accrington Tech he became a draftsman at engineering firms in the area and during his career he ran his own engineering businesses, all located in Accrington. Ian was an animal lover from a young age, taking mice to school in his pockets and converting the coal shed at home into an aviary where he bred budgies and pigeons. He was also a lover of comedy and would rewatch his favourite shows endlessly. As an active member of many local societies and clubs, Ian was lucky to have a very wide circle of friends whom he enjoyed entertaining.
