Herbert Greenhalgh – Bert
Bert passed away peacefully at home in Great Harwood, surrounded by his family, following a short illness, on 16 October 2023. The dearly beloved and devoted husband of Joan and much-loved Dad of Janet, Heather and Laura, and a dear father-in-law and Grandad.
Bert had a long career with NatWest in Oswaldtwistle and Colne, followed by a role with Pendle Enterprise Trust where he helped many new businesses start up and flourish. He was a keen steam train enthusiast and could often be seen at Whalley train station or Langho viaduct watching the trains pass by and was a Monday night regular at Read Con Club where he played snooker with other locals. Bert could turn his hand to anything from painting and decorating to gardening and the daily newspaper cryptic crosswords. He passed all his amazing knowledge onto his children and sons-in-law. He had a wonderful sense of humour and was very proud of all his family. Bert will be dearly missed by all those who loved and knew him.
Donations in lieu of flowers are gratefully being received on behalf of East Lancashire Hospice. To donate, please click on the blue button link at the foot of this page.
