Graham Hodgson

On 5th December 2023, peacefully in hospital, Graham, aged 73 years of Rishton. The dearly loved husband of Moira, much loved dad of David, Patrick and Kathleen, dear father in law of Shloe, Becky and Colin, and also a devoted grandad.

Graham completed his plumbing apprenticeship and then attended college to become a Building Inspector. He went on to spend his career with Lancashire County Council contributing to the maintenance and improvement of numerous primary and secondary schools. Graham’s super power was helping others and his remarkable abilities spanned plastering, plumbing, heating, electrics, and more, showcasing his versatility, but despite his proficiency in these jobs, he graciously deferred painting duties to the decorators. Graham spent many happy hours at St. Charles Church, Rishton with his best friend Eric, putting up the Christmas lights and running the Tombola. Graham and Moira loved their holidays, especially to Lake Garda with Lorraine and Alan, Sheila and John, and in earlier years they loved caravanning with the children. Graham was passionate about music and his constant companion whilst working was his radio. Graham also enjoyed watching his favourite programs on TV – The Chase, all quizzes and re-runs of Heartbeat. Graham had his much loved allotment where he spent many happy hours. A devoted family man, Graham ‘s love and presence will be dearly missed.

Graham will be sadly missed for many reasons, but more so for the holidays we shared.Firstly the annual event of the ‘Steam Gatherin’ in Flookburgh where along with Alan they would take charge of the famous bbq and the supply of red wine!Graham was fondly known as Grandad Graham by Ian and Carly and more recently Charlie! We have so many happy memories of summers spent at the caravan. After I lost Allan Moira and Graham were a great help and comfort to me and my family and we started taking holidays abroad, mainly The Lakes in Italy when my dad introduced us to Garda,Moira and Graham even went back to Lake Garda with me to scatter my Mum and Dad’s ashes at their favourite holiday destination. Over the years they have become more than friends and we have taken care of each other,as their daughter Kathleen says we are ‘Famille’ xx
