Giovanni Francesco Ligreci ‘Little John’

Peacefully at Royal Blackburn Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, on 27th October 2025, Giovanni, aged 71 years, of Great Harwood.
The devoted dad of Emma, Marie, Francesco, Shane, Samantha, and John-Junior, a cherished grandad, and dear brother of Victoria and Carmella, and the late Giovanni, Mario, and Philipino. Loved nephew of Vic and Polly, and a much-loved uncle, relative, and friend to many.

A well-known and much-loved character, Giovanni – or ‘Little John’ as he was affectionately known – was a familiar face in the pubs and clubs around Hyndburn. He loved a pint or two and was always ready for a friendly chat or a game of cards with his many friends. Throughout his life, Giovanni worked in various roles, including sheet metal work, in the slaughterhouse, the motor trade and as well as a doorman. A man who loved the great outdoors, he was happiest when surrounded by nature, enjoying a day’s fishing or hunting.

‘Little John’ was known for his trademark flat cap, so those attending his funeral are warmly invited to wear one as a sign of respect and remembrance.
