George Samuel Heron BA (Hons)

On 2nd November 2023, peacefully in Hope House, Clayton-le-Moors, George, aged 91 years of Friar Court, Accrington. the devoted and loving dad of Dawn, Steve, Mark, Simon, George, Gerry, Georgina and the late Jackie. Also a much loved father in law, grandad and great grandad.

George was born with a huge musical talent which he embraced, and which took him into many wonderful opportunities and experiences. He played in many famous bands – The Rolling Stones once borrowed his equipment and he was on the same bill as The Beatles. George was a most colourful character and loved bright colours. He was super fun and had a natural ability to make you laugh. At his happiest in the limelight, he thrived being the centre of attention. Moving to Accrington 36 years ago put George on the local map and he became a legend in the area, known for his love of customising American vintage cars. The founder of the American and Custom Vehicle Club, George owned a unique Galaxie 500 ‘Star Wars’ car, as well as other amazing cars. George was also loved to paint portraits and had a flair for acoustic art. He was quite simply a totally unique character, once seen never forgotten. As a musician, George really did follow the beat of his own drum. He will live on through his music and art and his family are so proud of him, and love and miss him dearly.
