George James Duckworth – Jim
On 23rd December, 2020 peacefully in hospital, Jim, aged 81 years of Rishton, formerly of Lower Darwen. The dearly beloved husband of the late Jean, much loved dad of Andrew and Jeanette, dear father in law of Maureen and Chris, loving grandad of Colleen, Billy, Aidan and Rosie-Jean and very dear to Vicky and Ruth. Also a much loved brother, brother in law, uncle and cousin.
Jim was proud to work as an accomplished engineer for most of his working life and also spent 10 years working for ICI where he made many friends. Jim always enjoyed whatever work he was doing and particularly enjoyed his time as caretaker and school janitor at Lower Darwen Primary School. He had a most generous nature, was sociable and loved going to the pub. Jim loved growing and nurturing his Bonsai Tree collection and was also a super-self- taught photo-shopper. Always up to the minute with the latest gadget, Jim was at the front of the queue with each release. He loved to laugh along to a good old comedy and was an avid star gazer. Enjoying music, he particularly loved the brass bands and folk music. A truly devoted family man, Jim really was their family hero.

I’ve been best friends with Colleen for close to forever now, and I still remember their home being renovated for Pops to move in.
